Interpreting for Prisons

As the population of non-English speakers grows, the need for qualified legal interpreters is ever increasing. It is the responsibility of the procurement manager to engage a suitably qualified and experienced interpreter skilled in the appropriate language or dialect. Global Voices has the capacity to provide interpreters to any Prison service throughout Scotland, England and Wales.

Our interpreters are tested and trained to specifically cope with legal terminology thus increasing the efficiency in communication between both parties. Global Voices' interpreters are available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.

We offer two types of service: Face-to-face interpretation and Video conference interpretation

Face-to-face interpretation

This is where the interpreter physically goes to the Prison.

Video Conference Interpretation

This is where the interpreter is at the Global Voices Video Conference Centre and interprets via the internet. The Prison officer has the option to use an instant video interpreter (IVI) via a mobile video cart or a standard PC.

How does it work?

1. A mobile video conference device is supplied to your organisation.
2. Plug it to the wall, switch it on and touch the "touch screen" to connect to our operator.
3. Let the operator know the language you require and within 10 seconds an interpreter appears on the screen and you are instantly in a conference call.
